Eddie Shanahan from the Council of Irish Fashion Designers visits St. Angela's College

On Friday the 26th March Eddie Shanahan from the Council of Irish Fashion Designers gave a lecture to the students on the Textiles, Fashion, and Design with Business Management course. Eddie Shanahan is Chairperson of the Council of Irish Fashion Designers and Director of the Leitrim Design House.
Mr Shanahan has a wide range of knowledge and expertise in all aspects of the fashion business with an extensive portfolio; he is a member of the Industry Advisory Board at Limerick School of Art & Design, developed the ‘Irish Designers Create’ project with Brown Thomas to identify emerging Irish design talent with the potential to sell in Brown Thomas, undertakes special mentoring projects for the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland and has extensive experience as a producer of innovative fashion shows and photo shoots in Ireland and internationally.
There was a wide range of subjects covered in the lecture for the Textiles, Fashion and Design with Business Management students, including; branding, design, marketing (research & development, pricing, routes to market, promotion & publicity), the role of design and visualisation in the marketing process, consumers now, the market now, retail formats including online, what retail buyers want and rules for operating in today’s ‘fast’ marketplace.
