St Angela's students claim 2 out of 5 places in the nationwide search for the Wedding Journals: 'Young Designer of the Year'

Katleen Amazonas and Roseanne Mc Namee, students in Fashion, Textiles and Design with Business Management have be selected to compete in the Wedding Journal ‘Young Designer of the Year’ competition. Young designers from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland applied for five places in the grand finale.
The deserving finalists designs will be showcased on the catwalks at Wedding Journal Shows in Dublin (9th and 10th January), Cork (16th and 17th January) and Belfast (29th to 31st January).
A celebrity panel of fashion judges will chose the one winning dress and its designer will be named as Wedding Journal’s Young Designer of the Year 2016 at The Wedding Journal Show, Belfast on Saturday 30th January.
The celebrity voting panel features international wedding dress designer Ian Stuart; leading British bridal wear designers – mother and daughter duo Amanda Wyatt and Charlotte Balbier and Louise Kennedy, one of Ireland’s most successful fashion designers. The fifth judge is a Wedding Journal representative.
Celebrity designer Ian Stuart states: “I think it’s wonderful that Ireland’s Wedding Journal is giving young designers the opportunity to showcase their talent to the bridal world. I believe it’s the responsibility of our industry as a whole to nurture and encourage the next generation of bridal wear designers.
Platforms like this award are the first step through the door, and give us the chance to discover the future big names.”
Congratulations to Roseanne and Kathleen for making it this far in the competition and we wish you the very best of luck, from the TFD team and all at St Angela’s College.
