Take Away My Way 2013 Winners Announced
The Take Away My Way All Island Cookery Competition, which is open to all students in Post-Primary Schools on the island of Ireland and YouthReach Centres in the Republic of Ireland is organised by St. Angela’s College and sponsored by Safefood. The competition aims to encourage students to display their culinary capabilities while also promoting the importance of healthy eating by asking students to create a healthier version of their favourite takeaway dish.
This year’s competition surpassed all expectations with an impressive 1200 entries from across the country. 32 finalists were shortlisted with the Junior and Senior Finals taking place on the 8th & 9th May in St. Angela’s College, Sligo. The finals were judged by a panel of experts including; Award Winning Chef and Television Personality, Neven Maguire; Community Chef, Brian McDermott, Executive Head Chef of the Radisson Blu Hotel Sligo, Joe Shannon; Ms. Amanda Mc Cloat, Head of Home Economics and Dr. Elaine Mooney, Lecturer Home Economics Dept.
The winners of the Junior and Senior Finals received an iPad, a class trip to Neven Maguire’s cookery school and equipment for their school. No one left empty handed with all finalists receiving medals, certificates, vouchers and a signed cookbook from Neven Maguire.
