We are delighted to announce that, further to the success of the 2010/2011 competition, the St. Angela’s College ‘Sew Cool’ Competition has now been re- launched for 2012/2013. This year we are organising the competition in association with the ATHE and sponsor Heart Educational Supplies.

There are two categories open for entries from all schools:

• Junior Category to include: textile project work made during the 2009-2013 Junior Certificate cycle including: Junior Certificate Optional Coursework, Design and Craftwork Projects , Textile Garments and Other Craft or Textile Projects completed in Home Economics.
• Senior Category textile work you have completed as part of the 2009-

2013 Senior Cycle Home Economics Programmes which you feel is creative and skilful including: Transition Year Textile, Craft and Fashion Design Projects, Leaving Certificate Textiles, Fashion and Design Option Projects and Fashion Design Garments constructed by Senior Cycle Home Economics students.

This year the competition format has changed thanks to the support of the ATHE.  Successful finalists’ teachers will be required to bring the textile craft project work or garment to the ATHE AGM in 2013 for judging on the day. Prizes will be awarded at the AGM and certificates for short-listed entrants only will be presented to the teachers. Entering the competition implies agreement for the work to be exhibited, photographed and for images to be used on the college website or promotional materials. Textile craft project work or garments will be returned to finalists’ teachers after the competition.

Thanks to our generous sponsor we again have a selection of wonderful competition prizes: sewing machines, Heart educational Supplies vouchers for equipment and materials.
