A new Postgraduate programme in Specific Learning Difficulties launched by the Centre for Special Educational Needs, Inclusion and Diversity (CSENID) is now accepting applications

The Centre for Special Educational Needs, Inclusion and Diversity (CSENID) at St Angela’s College, Sligo has launched a new postgraduate programme in Specific Learning Difficulties.

This programme in Specific Learning Difficulties offers a progression pathway from Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and Master of Arts qualification (Level 9) accredited by NUI Galway.
‘This programme enables students to develop professional skills required to identify and support learners with specific learning difficulties in a variety of settings,’ explains Dr Ann Marie Casserly, Programme Coordinator and lecturer in Special Educational Needs in CSENID, ‘This programme combines a blended learning format with online learning components and face-to-face workshops.’ She noted that the programme would be of interest to Principals, Co-ordinators of Special Educational Needs (SEN), mainstream teachers, Learning Support/Resource teachers, tutors in other educational settings and members of multidisciplinary teams in relation to SEN.

This Postgraduate Programme includes the study of Specific Learning Difficulties such as:  Communication, Speech and language difficulties, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Dyspraxia/Developmental Coordination Disorder.  A study of literacy in the context of Specific Learning Difficulties is also a component of the programme.

The Programme is currently accepting applications for the autumn 2012 intake and the deadline for applications is 30th March 2012.
