This semester, the BEd3 Biology group undertook a hectic week of ecological fieldwork. Many ecological sampling methods were employed to study a variety of flora and fauna in their native environments in Easkey bog, Longford Demesne Native Woodland in Beltra ‘Winner of the 2010 RDS Forest Service Bio-Diverse Forestry/Woodland Award’, Raughley Beach, Lissadell Shellfish Company and Birds of Prey Eagles Flying, Irish Raptor Research Centre, Ballymote. The week ended with a visit to Burren Beo in Kinvara, Co. Clare and some fieldwork at the Carron Research Institute in the complex ecosystem of the Burren, Co. Clare.
