The SEN team, Education Department, St. Angela’s College, Sligo in conjunction with Mayo Education Centre, Castlebar and Carrick-on-Shannon Education Centre are offering a Post-Graduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters in Professional Studies in Special Educational Needs commencing September 2010. This part-time, two-year Post-Graduate Level 9 programme is aimed at a wide range of professional supporting learners with SEN in a variety of settings, such as: Primary Schools; Post-Primary Schools; Special Schools/Classes; Youthreach; Adult Training Centres; Prison Service; Centres for people with Learning Disability.

Completion of Modules 1 and 2 together with successful completion of the necessary course work will attract a Post-Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Special Educational Needs: Module 1-Educating Learners Experiencing LD/SEN; Module 2 -
Developing Whole School Approaches to LD/SEN

Post-Graduate Diploma Module Outline

Completion of four modules together with the necessary course work will attract Post-Graduate Diploma in Professional Studies in Special Educational Needs: Module 1
Educating - Learners Experiencing Learning Difficulties/SEN; Module 2- Developing Whole School Approaches to Learning Difficulties/SEN. The remaining two modules may be selected from the following menu of options:

• Autistic Spectrum Disorders
• Specific Learning Disabilities
• General Learning Disabilities
• Challenging Behaviour
• Adult, Disadvantage and Intercultural Education

The cost of two-year Post-Graduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters in Professional Studies in Special Educational Needs is as follows:
€790 per Module re. Certificate and Diploma
€3,300 for Year 2 of Masters
