Professor Pendergast is Head of School of Education and Professional Studies at Griffith University, Queensland, Australia. Professor Pendergast has made a significant contribution to the profession of Home Economics, having been President of the Home Economics Institute of Australia; President of the Queensland Division of the Home Economics Institute of Australia; Editor of the Journal of the Home Economics Institute of Australia; Editor of the International Journal for Home Economics; Author of “Virginal Mothers, groovy chicks and blokey blokes: rethinking home economics (and) teaching bodies.” Professor Pendergast is currently the Executive Member for the Pacific Region of the International Federation for Home Economics, and Chair of the Think Tank committee.
