Markree Castle is a charming historic castle which has recently been extensively renovated to the highest standards. The castle is just a few minutes’ drive outside Sligo city but set in a secluded 500 acre estate in the stunning Sligo countryside which inspired famous poet W.B Yeats. The surrounding countryside inspires every area of activity at Markree Castle and not least the exquisite Louis XIV dining room. Wild venison and woodcock from the Markree Estate itself are often featured on the menu.
