Strategic Partnership - Lionra

The Regional Higher Education Network

The Líonra network was founded in 2001 to develop a collaborative response on behalf of the Region’s higher education providers to the education and development challenges facing the Border, Midlands, Western (BMW) region.  St. Angela’s College is a member of the Líonra network and fully supports its’ motto of: “Building the Learning Region Together” – “Ní neart go cur le chéile”

Participation in the network facilitates inter-institutional collaborative projects which address specific educational and training needs across the region.  To date the Network has succeeded in attracting funding for collaborative projects in the three priority areas of Lifelong learning, Supporting Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Research Collaboration.

To improve access to third level and address educational disadvantage, the Network has established strong links with local communities and outreach centres across the region.  An important part of the Líonra function on behalf of third level educational institutions like St. Angela’s College is the liaison with social partners, the BMW Assembly, government departments and agencies, and international bodies. The network has established links with Government departments, The BMW Regional Assembly, Enterprise Ireland, the VEC, IBEC, SIPTU, FÁS and Údarás na Gaeltachta.
