Programme Overview

This first brief in this module focuses on exploring a sector of the fashion or textile market that you would like to work in and learning to design for that market. Build on skills previously learned that are appropriate to your design direction such as research and design development, pattern drafting, draping, garment construction, hand and digital print, fabric dyeing, woven and felted textiles, fabric manipulation, embroidery and embellishment and digital design skills.

The second brief is a self-set, self-motivated brief. You may wish to look at new inspiration and processes, or you may wish to follow through on ideas and approaches you have discovered in earlier modules. The quality and originality of your ideas is vital to the success of this project. Visual research is the foundation of your work as a designer and you should aim to produce an exciting, exploratory and comprehensive design development notebook. You are asked to writeyour own statement of intent and produce a professional finished collection ofgarments/textile samples in any area of fashion or textiles, along with an exciting and professionally presented colour and style board.
