Level 7 Part-Time Module in Designing for Fashion and Textiles 2.1
Course Code: IHT15

The modules are stand alone and can be taken as individual units of study or they can be taken consecutively, culminating in a Level 7 Certificate/Diploma.

Entry Requirements:
  • Basic sewing skills and a keen interest in textiles are necessary.
  • Basic ICT skills are a requirement ie. ECDL equivalent.
  • Drawing skills are required.

Applicants will be selected based on their educational qualifications and/or prior experience in the textile, fashion or craft areas.

Programme Overview

In this module students will explore the possibilities of the intertwine structures of textiles through constructed textiles as a design enquiry approach to develop a design direction.

The module will introduce Adobe illustrator and Photoshop and develop practical CAD skills. The second brief focuses on exploring the possibilities of the flat printed surface enhanced by form and embellishment. The fashion processes of draping fabric on the human form is enhanced by manipulating and embellishing textile processes as a design enquiry approach to develop a design direction.

Along with advancing research and design development skills, participants will arrive at refined fashion and textile outcomes.
