Entry Requirements:

A Bachelor of Education (Home Economics) Degree or an equivalent qualification in Home Economics at a minimum of H2.2.


 2 years part-time and is offered fully on-line.

Fees (euro):

€3,300 per annum.

Programme Overview

The Master of Education (Home Economics) Degree (Fully Online) is an interdisciplinary postgraduate programme which aims to enhance teaching, learning and research in Home Economics / Home Economics education. The M.Ed. (Home Economics) will facilitate participants to understand and critically evaluate contemporary educational policy and practices in Home Economics / Home Economics education and apply relevant knowledge, theory and research findings in order to inform and enhance their professional practice.

The programme is modular in design.

  1. Professional Inquiry in Contemporary Development in Home Economics / Home Economics Education.
  2. Research Methods.

Participants Select One module from the Optional Pathways:

  1. Nutrition, Diet and Health
  2. Family, Youth and Child Studies
  3. Applied Studies in Fashion and Textile Craft Education.


Year 2

  1. Advanced Research and Study Skills / Dissertation Orientation Module.
  2. Dissertation Module
