Master of Arts Programme in Special Educational Needs, Special Educational Needs (ASDs) and Professional Studies in Special Educational Needs
Level 8 Undergraduate Degree (H2.2) or equivalent. For students without the relevant academic qualification but with relevant previous experience, recognition for prior learning can be awarded.
Modules Stage 2 - both modules are core modules
Students commence Year 2 on 15th September 2017.

The Centre for Special Educational Needs, Inclusion and Diversity (CSENID) at St. Angela’s College is involved in a range of pre-undergraduate, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as shorter professional development courses and online blended learning modules. These include courses in special educational needs (SEN) for personnel working in educational settings who are interested in furthering their knowledge with regard to the area of SEN.

The aim of the modules is to provide substantial theoretical and practical continuing professional development for those interested in and/or working with learners with special educational needs (Further details on the individual modules are provided at the end of this document).
These standalone online blended learning modules involve e-tivities, discussion boards and face-to-face workshops and have a credit weighting of 15 ECTS. Modules are offered regularly over the academic year.
Completion of two modules from the suite of on-line blended learning modules listed above(30 ECTS) = Postgraduate Certificate
Completion of four modules from the suite of on-line blended learning modules listed above(60 ECTS) = Postgraduate Diploma
Participants may progress to Masters level on successful completion (an honours standard) of four modules from those listed above which must include the on-line blended learning module on Educational Research Methods.
Each module will include student contact time, directed study, independent and e-learning study giving a total participant effort of at least 300 hours for each module. Students will also be expected to participate in online discussions of course content. Dates are provided for on-campus workshops and lectures and the remainder of the modules are delivered online. Modules will normally be assessed by continuous assessment/written coursework (up to a maximum of 5,000 words/module) based on assignment, e-tivities and discussion boards, where appropriate.
This programme is suitable for candidates who wish to progress further in their professional sector and are already in employment. It aims to enhance professional knowledge and it is designed to provide a student-centred, accessible, flexible, coherent framework for the personal, professional and academic development of participants. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their own work practices and to link their study to their working environment.
