Programme Overview
St. Angela's College Access Schools Programme aims to encourage and aid students to progress to third level education. St. Angela's College supports students and aims to create a positive experience of third level education. Integral to the initiative is a focus on the provision and promotion of educational opportunity to a student population that is marginalised specifically in terms of equality. The programme is conducted in primary and secondary schools.

Primary School Programme:

Activities include:

  • ‘Positive Communications’ Workshops;
  • St. Angela’s College ‘Primary Science Programme’;
  • NUI Galway ‘University Taster Experience’;
  • Third level themed primary school competition.
Secondary School Programme:

Activities include:

  • Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages Classes (TESOL) classes Multinational and multicultural events and activities.
  • Campus tours and activities in St. Angela’s College
  • After school maths tuition
  • After school Irish tuition
  • Positive Communications and Self Esteem Workshops.
  • Making Choices – Junior Certificate and Transition Year students receive guidance lectures on the subject choices for their Senior Cycle to assist them in keeping options open for third level.
  •  ‘A Day in College Life’ students spend a day in St. Angela’s College attending lectures and are mentored by St. Angela’s College students
  • English for Academic Purposes (EAP) for speakers whom English is not their first language.

  • Leaving Certificate Language Orals Preparation: Irish and French seminars
  • B.A. Taster day
