This program is a Restricted Entry programme on the CAO

Leaving Certificate Subject Requirement: 2 H5s + 4 O6s/H7s

or

Applicants are required to have an established Leaving Certificate (or an approved equivalent) with at least two H5s and 4 O6s/H7s.

A pass in the portfolio assessment must be achieved (Please refer to Portfolio Guidelines for further details). Subject Requirement: Minimum 6 subjects including Irish (unless exempt), English, Maths and another language. FETAC qualifications: See Special Entry below for further information. There are also opportunities available to students via non-standard entry progression routes including mature entry, Access and HEAR.

Programme Overview

This degree programme is unique in its  mixture of advanced fashion design skills derived from a combination of design philosophy, textile processes, digital design skills and sustainable design practices, all underpinned by advanced technical skills to empower participants to professionally realize their designs. The programme aims to produce highly skilled designers for work in a variety of careers in the fashion and textile industries.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design will be highly skilled designers for work in a variety of careers in the fashion and textile industries. Graduates will have the skills to become Fashion Designers, Textile Designers, Costume Designers, Accessory Designers, Pattern Cutters, Stylists, Trend Forecasters and Fashion Buyers. This degree course also affords the opportunity to pursue further studies at Postgraduate, Masters and PhD levels.
